God Hears Intelligently

Psalm 6:8 “Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.”

Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary Definitions:

  • Heard:  Comes from a word that means “ To hear intelligently”.
  • Intelligently:  Endowed with the faculty of understanding or reason.
  • Voice:  To call aloud; voice aloud; sound aloud; bleating.
  • Bleating: Crying as a sheep.
  • Weeping: Dripping; overflowing; continual weeping.

About everybody that gets caught cries. Tears can be used to deceive and control a situation.   As we manage master manipulators and habitual liars, the importance of hearing the voice of weeping intelligently remains obvious.  If we do not, we could be moved to make all sorts of poor decisions with dire ramifications.

Each of us have at sometime been affected by a decision that was made when the voice of weeping was heard with emotions rather than reason.  Maybe it was our own decision, or that of another.  A history of  dealings with an individual bring more facts into play that may incite us to hear their cry with anger.  Sometimes our hands are tied when an inmate gains their wishes via the determination of someone  who succumbed to the emotion of pity, where pity wasn’t due.

Some accusingly mark us with the undeserved label of “cold” as they observe us watch a person cry, appearing unaffected by the pool of tears.  It’s not that we’re “cold” as they surmise, it’s that we are hearing the weeping intelligently.  Much is at stake–we must expend the energy and pay the price necessary to consistently hear intelligently.

Our finiteness limits us from always hearing intelligently.  However, the Holy Spirit of God who dwells within us is able to give us the needed discernment and the boldness to respond properly to individuals and their situations.  This brings us rest and peace with the results, whatever they may be.

Remember that the Lord always hears intelligently.  God hears the sound of my continual dripping tears, and He never tires of it or grows accustomed to it.  He is always affected by it in the appropriate way, and  He always deals with me properly.  He knows if I am crying real tears of genuine repentance.  He knows and understands my tears of grief and despair.  He hears my tears falling.  I am His bleating sheep and He is my tender Shepherd.  All praise to our God who hears intelligently.

Psalm 30:5 “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life:  weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

Isaiah 59:1-2 “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:  but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
