Your Eyes Are Better Than Mine

“Look on the ground by the wall. Your eyes are better than mine.” This statement was made to me as I strained to see what the inmate knew was there. He then pointed to an old railroad spike lying barely under the surface of the ground on an outside wall of our facility. When I saw it I questioned inside, “Why didn’t I see that earlier when I was over here?” Immediately I thought of the potential danger to officers and other inmates.

Psalm 34:15 “The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” It is only by God’s grace that many things are pointed out to us. Many times there are things barely under the surface that can be potentially dangerous to us and others spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. I am thankful that His eyes are better than mine. He sees everything and points out dangers through the Holy Spirit. He gives us the opportunity to have those dangers removed so that our life may not be interrupted by needless pain.

Dear God, Your eyes are better than mine. You see and know everything that is there. “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)
